He began his career path at DC Everest High School, a college prep school where he studied liberal arts and science. His extra curricular activities and societies included Athletic Letter Club, football (all conference,all state honorable mention), basketball,baseball, band, science club, and freshman class president.

He went on to attend The University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned a BS in economics. He also participated in Army R.O.T.C..

After under graduate studies Lou went in the Army and served a tour in Vietnam.

He continued his education after Army service by attending graduate school at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Business School, majoring in Marketing and Finance. He graduated in the top 20% of his class.

After graduate school Lou was employed by the Pillsbury company where he became a marketing manager. Over the eight years of employment with Pillsbury, he successfully marketed several products.

He then decided to become an entrepreneur. He formed the Wagner-Thompson Company. As president of that company his company purchased and managed a total of seven restaurant franchises in central Kansas over a period of ten years.

Lou decided then to sell his interest in the company and move to the Colorado Rockies to pursue his passion for winter skiing and summer recreation activities. He became a Copper Mountain ski instructor and participated in the grueling Ride the Rockies bike races in the summer, as well as other recreational activities.

Being the consumate business person, Lou formed a new company Lou Wagner and associates which provides Real Estate Transactional information to suppliers.

He also provides consultant services to the Be Good to People company.

He was an active member of the Frisco,Colorado Rotary Club for over 10 years and recently (2018-2021) served as a Commissioner on the Colorado 5th Judicial District.
